Hidgi Chuan is a blind martial artist, trainer and shaolin monk. He practiced and taught martial arts since more than 30 years. During his path of karate-do shotokai he practiced with many high masters like Master William Schneider, Master Shigeru Egami and Master Harada. He acquired an exam in psychology, in osteopathy and, despite his blindness, he is travelling in the world to commit himself for humanitarian projects, vegetarianism, veganism and animal rights.

The original name and the name of today
Hidgi Chuan´s original name had a different spelling than the way it is written today. Until 2017 Hidgi Chuan´s name was spelled „Idji Xuan“ (with the exact same pronounciation).
The reasons for this change of name are very unpleasant: Hidgi Chuan / Idji Xuan became the victim of a horrible cyberbullying campaign on the internet wich obliged him to change the spelling of his name in order to dodge the horrible aggression that was aimed at this blind martial arts teacher by a local musician from Berlin who did not even know Hidgi Chuan in any personal way.
The origin of the name Hidgi Chuan / Idji Xuan
The name Hidgi (or Idji) is not just a random name. It has a meaning. For Hidgi Chuan the meaning of his name is not just a „random detail“, it rather is a way to live his life.

„My name is Hidgi, or, more precisely it’s a nickname which is also a commitment. It means: “ Be free and apply everything positive that you discovered on yourself, first of all. Then, if you can, give it to the others.”

The path of martial arts, knowledge and the energy
Hidgi Chuan spent his whole life to train, to practise, to learn, to improve and, finally, to teach and to help other people all over the world.
In martial arts and in spirituality it is very common that practicioners and teachers receive or choose a new name once they have reached a high level in thier discipline. This is not done to gain authority or power, nor is it meant to make the student believe that now he can rest on his laurel. The contrary is the case: the name announces the next discipline: to live up to the guidelines that this name is pointing at.
For Hidgi Chuan / Idji Xuan it is not the name that makes a good teacher; it is the fruit that this teacher is able to give and to manifest that shows if his actions are in coherence with his name.

Around 2015 / 2016 Hidgi Chuan / Idji Xuan was starting to be very active on his YouTube channel; people from different countries started to contact him, to discuss with him or to ask questions. He was meeting people from all over the world and he was active in different associations where he committed himself for human rights, the rights of refugees, children and animals.
The defamation campaign
In 2016 a berlin based musician started to publish hate posts against Hidgi Chuan who was still named Idji Xuan at that time. For personal reasons, that had nothing to do with Hidgi himslef, this man had developed an obsessive hatred against Hidgi even though he never even knew him. As Hidgi Chuan had protected and helped a friend who had been badly treated as a result of being in a relationshoip with this unbalanced man, now this person exploded in hatred and malice through the internet against Hidgi Chuan, against his own ex – girlfriend, and against her whole circle of friends.
Hidgi Chuan went to justice against this man but as soon as the perpetrator was faced with the consequences the publications started to be done anonymously.
Cyberbullying is a great danger of the world wide web, and it was done against a blind karate master who spent all his life to help people to direct their lifes into strength, clarity and fairness.

According to a survey done by the Pew Research Center on the subject of cyberbullying it became clear that nearly 75 percent of American adults have witnessed online harassment, with 40 percent experiencing cyberbullying personally.
Teenagers and young people are even experiencing unusally high rates of online harassment.

The change of name
As a result Hidgi Chuan (who was named Idji Xuan at that time) decided to not accept such an aggression especially as he had done nothing against this man.
Besides of publishing his own testimonies on the internet he decided to change the spelling of his name. He chose a spelling that would allow him to leave the pronounciation exactly as it had been before:
Like this „Idji Xuan“ changed into „Hidgi Chuan“.
Of course this was detected by the cyber – bully after some time. But Hidgi Chuan is not willing to accept such a low and insidious aggression of somebody who never even knew him personally. Despite his blindness he will go on practicing, learning, teaching martial arts and traveling in the world to commit for the joy of the existance and the protection of the life, as it is his path: As Hidgi ( Idji ), the one who will never stop to learn and to practice to be free and apply everything positive that he discovered on himself, first of all. And then, to give it to the others.
